"Bravo for the Encore, a new B & B in Boston's vibrant South End. Encore occupies the top floors of an 1860 Victorian brick townhouse on a leafy side street, just around the corner from busier Tremont Street. The Bed and Breakfast's space underwent extensive renovation and redesign earlier this year under the masterful touch of the owners: Reinhold Mahler, an award-winning architect, and David Miller, an award-winning set designer. The three guest rooms - the Albee, Sondheim and Bernstein Rooms - are decorated with posters and materials from each author's work. David's collection of masks from around the world - Korea, Greece, Italy and elsewhere - hangs in the breakfast nook. Descriptions can't adequately capture the way walls, furnishings and bed coverings work together. Be sure to ask your hosts about theatre. They know what's going on and will gladly guide you to Boston's smaller, more intimate venues."

Wij, vier vrienden uit Amsterdam ,The Netherlands, hebben hier een week gelogeerd begin mei while visiting the A.A.N. Conference. |

"It was a delight meeting you and was wonderful staying here. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts and chats regarding architecture, what to see, what not to see, etc. I am sure you will have a great success with the B & B - you are a natural. I will not hesitate to recommend you to others."

"Loved Encore but I especially loved your warmth and hospitality. We felt very welcomed and it wasn’t long before 116 W. Newton became like a second home. I will always look back fondly upon my days in Boston – thank you for your part in that."

"Thank you for your hospitality. The house and room were fabulously decorated. Our view from the Albee room was magnificent. We wished we could have stayed a few more days. It’s going to cost a fortune to redesign our home to look quite as good as yours."

"Thank you for the nice time in Boston. We liked our room on the top floor very much, because everything is so modern and you have such a nice view at the John Hancock Tower. We enjoyed the breakfasts and it was nice to talk to you. Thank you we really liked it here."

"David and I really enjoyed our time in Boston and your accommodations were a big part of that. I have a confession to make ... I had never stayed in a B&B before this vacation, and didn't know what to expect. I supposed I thought it would be like staying in a small hotel. It was nothing of the kind. Staying in your B&B was much more. You provided a gracious and comfortable space to rest our tired bodies after those marathon walks about bean town. This is to say nothing of the great conversation every morning at breakfast. Once again, thank you."

"The Encore is the best-kept secret in the South End. Our stay there for 5 day and four nights was nothing short of perfect. Attention is paid to every little detail from the flowers as you enter to the linens on the beds. Reinhold was a gracious host; the coffee and conversation lived up to their reputation 'splendid'. If you desire a special place that is a step above the norm I would recommend staying at the Encore. Thanks again to such fine hosts..."
