The South End neighborhood has many cultural options and dining establishments, with easy access via public transportation to sites city wide. Take a stoll along Tremont and Washington streets and some of the charming side streets - there you find a diverse mixture of distinctive shops. Copley Place, Boston's premier high end shopping experience is in 10 minute walking distance. Harrison Avenue has artists’ studios and galleries that are often open to the public, especially on the First Friday of every month and during Open Studios in September. The BCA (Boston Center for the Arts) is home to four theaters, hosting many of Boston’s best theater companies in addition to artist studios and a gallery. A short walk away is Wally’s, a jazz club that’s been operating in the neighborhood since 1947. Another jazz club is the Beehive located at the BCA. The neighborhood also has an incredible diversity of eating establishments, with over 35 within a 10 minute walk of Encore (see our Restaurant page). The weekly open-air SoWa Open Market every Sunday from May to October is a mixture of crafts, food products, snarky T-shirts, art, and food trucks.
